Superman rids the world of nuclear weapons, Lex Luthor creates a psychotic villain version of the Man of Steel (named Nuclear Man) that nearly kills our Caped Crusader, Lois’ undying love for our favorite Kryptonian results in saving his life, Superman comes back and saves the day. Role credits, the end.
Seriously, that’s all you need to know. It was a noble attempt to make up for Superman III’s farcical treatment of the superhero, but it manages to fall short of III’s haphazard enjoyability. This reasonably decent idea is marred by the fact that the effects are still stuck in the 70’s, Margot Kidder doesn’t seem to be trying as Lois Lane, and it would help if the villain was more articulate than just grunting.
